Letters, photographs, clippings and articles, exhibition brochures, scrapbooks, legal papers, medals and other materials documenting the artistic career of George Wesley Bellows. Includes correspondence and writings of Bellows and his wife Emma Story Bellows, and papers of their daughters Jean Bellows Booth and Anne Bellows Kearney. Correspondents include Robert Henri. Photographs and yearbooks from Bellows' student days at Ohio State University are also included.

George Wesley Bellows was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1882. He attended Ohio State University, leaving in 1903 for New York where he enrolled at William Chase's New York School of Art under the instruction of Robert Henri. He became Associate Member of the National Academy in 1908 and Academician in 1918. In 1910 he married a fellow student at the school, Emma Story.
